Trust is an important concept in leadership. As a leader, you need to earn and spend the trust as effectively as possible. It allows us to encourage people to reduce their skepticism on new concepts and ideas, as well as build a culture of psychological safety.

Unfortunately, trust is hard to gain but easily lost. This means we need to put many times more effort into earning the trust as we do with spending it.

Also, the move to working from home as well as hybrid and international environments, adds additional challenges to the building of trust in modern workplaces.

This course is all about the importance of trust in the workplace, how you can recognize when you’re in low and high trust environments, and how you can move from a low trust environment to a high trust environment.

We’ll talk about trust’s impact in the workplace, its impact on relationships and the people around you, and how you can recognize when you’re in high trust and low trust environments. What the symptoms of those environments are and how you can work out if this is something you need to put a special focus on improving.

We’ll also discuss how you can move from a low trust environment to a high trust environment. We’re always fan of Frameworks in Debugging Leadership, and I’ll take you through a trust framework that allows you to understand the proactive ways you can move from low trust to high trust. There’ll be a worksheet along with that, as an aid to your memory, where you can look back on this course later and you can use that worksheet to improve what you’ve been doing.

In addition, we also have a bonus module in this course on how trust works in a hybrid or remote working environment. With more and more people working remotely, there are certain things that are more important in building trust remotely, and certain things that go against us in building trust remotely, so we’ll discuss those and talk about how we can mitigate the downsides and optimize for the upsides.

This course will teach you:

  • The importance of trust as a leader
  • How to understand the indications of high trust and low trust relationships
  • How to move a relationship from a low trust to high trust as quickly as possible
  • The specific impacts of the modern move to more hybrid and international workplaces on trust
